Our Nurse Educators
Meet Jen Smalley, MSN, RN, CCRN
aka "ICU nurse-nerd" and "critical care addict"
Over the past eight years, Jen Smalley has provided direct patient care and education in high-acuity trauma, cardiac, and mixed intensive care units. She graduated from University of Texas Austin with her BSN and has maintained her CCRN for 6 years. Jen remained at the bedside during COVID-19 and obtained her MSN in Nurse Education from Texas Woman's University during the pandemic.
Jen's passion is making critical care exciting and understandable to nurses, assist in the transition to ICU from other nursing specialties, and promotion of lifelong learning. She's also known for making education as fun as it can be, so don't be surprised if games are utilized as part of her teaching style. Currently, Jen is Adjunct Faculty at Texas State University School of Nursing and serves as the President for the Greater Austin Area Chapter of AACN.
She and her husband own property in Central Texas, complete with cows, horses, and a variety of other wildlife. When she's not nursing, educating, or crocheting, she is learning about ranching. Her kids will tell you that she sings too loud, loves to rock out ridiculously, is always learning something, and has a huge heart for all of God's creatures!
